First book review: Beautiful disaster by Jamie McGuire

Book review
This is my first book review, I thought about writing a review of books most people have read like the mortal instruments, the maze runner..... But you’ve probably seen tons of them otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this. Instead, I thought I should do a review on a book that not many people know of, well i think anyway. Now I’m not saying this is a book the no one has seen because if you typed the book name on Google you’ll see it come up, but it’s not as big as harry potter (but then again no book would be).

The book I’m reviewing (which you can guess from the title) is beautiful disaster by Jamie McGuire.  Now this book, has no words except ‘beautiful disaster’, ha see what i did there, not funny, okay, I’ll stop.... this book is one of my favorite love stories infact its in my top 5 ships and that says a lot with the amount of ships i have. Now, when reading this book you’re either going to love it or hate it, but I guarantee if you’re really into your romance novels than your going to love it.  This book literally brought out all of my emotions from happiness and love to anger and tears. Jamie McGuire uses the idea of your typical teenager love story, where the bad boy falls for the good girl who she doesn’t want, and incorporates it with her own idea full of twists, turns and things that you don’t expect throughout the novel, which enraptures you into reading more and makes it unique in its own way.

What’s it about?
The book is about a girl called Abby Abernathy who moves from Kansas to Eastern with her best friend America to, both forget and get away from her past. She’s your typical good girl, who never drinks, is well behaved and is everything you expect a girl with good grades to be. But when America takes her to the circle (which is basically where people fight and you win money by betting on who will win. The people fighting also get money, if they win, obviously) she bumps into the kind of person she’s trying to keep away from and doesn’t want; a guy who’s quick to anger, tough, drinks most of his time, is known for sleeping with nearly every girl in Eastern state and has all the properties you expect a sexy bad boy to have. Travis Maddox. To him Abby is different from any other girl he’s met; who, unlike Abby doesn't try to get his attention and is able to resists his alluring charms.  One night at the circle they make a bet in which if Abby wins he has to go without sex for a month but if he wins she had to live with him for a month. And when he wins things for both of them change; Abby is with the one thing she doesn’t want and Travis is with the one thing he didn’t expect. This can only lead to one way or another, either their beautiful love story begins, or a terrible disaster.

What I thought?
If you have read this book than please, read on but if you haven’t i recommend you don’t because I’ll probably spoil it for you, no, actually, I will spoil it for you, so read the book, enjoy it and then come back and read my thoughts, now go away.

I seriously loved every second of this book, its different to any other love story but then again most love stories are. The thing i  really liked was that it wasn't your typical teenage love story that you would expect, because Abby wasn't the 'good girl' I expected her to be. In a way she was like Travis but hid every 'bad' thing about her like the fact she was the daughter of one of  the greatest poker players. The only thing I hated was how Jamie made me cry so much, seriously when ever they broke up, which was like every chapter I would cry (don't judge me, because i know you did too. Don't try to deny it)

I liked America's character a lot especially her humor "what do you suggest I do. Sleep with him?" America shrugged"it'll save you time"  and the way she's out going. If I had a best friend like that,  I probably would socialise more (ha, literally all book lovers... no its just me...). Now let's talk about Parker Hayes. I don't hate him because he really hasn't done anything wrong, personally I think he's good looking and a decent guy. But what I enjoyed were the moments between Travis and Parker, literally every time they both were in the same place, I would  always laugh at the way they both acted towards each other, mainly Travis. For example when Travis opened Parker's car door just when he was basically all over her. Finally, Travis. When he's with Abby, he changes from the hard going and quick to anger guy to the sweet and sensitive one and i'm sitting here thinking, I wish I have a guy like that, but sadly that will never happen. Not only that but he's witty too, Travis feigned offense, "i'm everyone's type!" i really like his character, and I know I've said this for all of the characters I mentioned, but its true i liked them all, except Travis's 'barbie twins,' I hated them.

Okay so my favorite scene was when  it was Christmas, yes they weren't together at that point, but I just loved the whole family get together, the way all the brothers behaved around one another:

"speaking of tired I'm exhausted" i breathed "I'm going to head to bed, baby" I looked to everyone else "good night guys"
"nights sis," Jim said
Travis's brothers all bade me goodnight and I headed up the stairs.
"i'm gonna turn in too" i heard Travis say.
" I bet you are," Trenton teased
"lucky bastard" Tyler grumbled.

My favorite Travis quote:

“I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you... but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone or anything. When you’re around I don’t need booze or money or the fighting or the one night stands...all I need is you. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want”

There were so many funny scenes in the book but my favorite was this one between Travis and Abby:

"Abs? what are you, a workout video?" he sneered
"'pigeon'" I asked in the same amount if disdain. "An annoying bird that craps all over the sidewalk"

Anyway, guys, that's my first review done. I hoped you enjoy reading and comment down your thoughts of the book or if you haven't read it, are you going to now? Also tell me if you liked my review and thanks for reading it!
